Sara Mittleider

& El Primero

The 2007 Rolex Kentucky 3 Day Event went quite well. Tony continues to improve in the dressage phase and had one of only six double clear rounds on the cross country day. The show jumping did not go as well as one would have liked, but now we know why so many jump in hackamores on Sunday!! The final day saw Sara and El Primeo the highest placing young rider for the third year in a row and 12th overall.

May 25th thru 27th Sara and El Primero participated in the selection trials for the Pan American Games that was held at Woodside CA in conjunction with the Woodside Horse Trials. They Enjoyed their best dressage ride to date with a score for the FEI CCI*** test of 35.4 and had a good show jumping round. They were excused from having to run the cross country due to their excellent round in Kentucky three weeks earlier.

Following the trials and with the approval of team coach Captain Mark Phillips, Sara withdrew her application to compete at the Pan Ams in Brazil.

Sara and Tony will stay in the Northwest for the summer and continue working on their dressage skills with the plan to travel to England and compete at the Burghley CCI****   Aug 30th – Sept 2nd.

Spending her summer training from her home at Rocky Hollow Farms, in Kuna Idaho, will also allow Sara time to compete “Here’s Awesome”, as well as prepare her two young horses for future competitions. Additionally Sara will be teaching lessons and joining her father, Gary Mittleider in teaching Event Derby clinics geared toward all levels of riders who wish to improve their skills both cross country and in the dressage arena.
